Safety is always a big concern when selecting an apartment to live at at the University of Texas.   Many times i get asked the question; Is west campus safe? I heard that living in riverside is not safe? Now while there is no direct evidence to support any of these theories and while i have experienced crime in both areas..you can use safety measures that will greatly reduce the chances of crime impacting your home.

List of Safety Measures

1. Try to live away from the 1st floor -  Statistics show that the higher you floor level the lower your chances are that you will get your home broken into.  This is one of the most simplest measures that you can use to greatly reduce the chances of burglary. Yes, you may have to carry those groceries up an additonal flight of stairs, BUT everything is a little give-and-take.

2. Gated parking - While this doesnt guarantee thieves will not try to access gated parking, it does add an additional barrier for them to gain entry.
